Job summary

School District of Philadelphia seeks a food service assistant to support preparation and service in district cafeterias. You will clean preparation and service areas, operate a POS system, and help with cooking based on standardized recipes.

You will also handle cash transactions, count daily sales, and assist with end-of-day closing tasks while maintaining cleanliness and compliance with health standards.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
• Two years of full-time, paid food services experience in a large-scale institutional environment which has included the School Food Service, Principles of Quantity Food Production, and ServeSafe Sanitation Program.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and service of food within School District of Philadelphia facilities.
• Cleans food preparation and/or service areas.
• Operates a compliant Point of Service (POS) and POS computer system/terminal.
• Washes pots, pans, trays and other utensils; cleans areas; may sweep and mop floor.
• Cooks main entrees or other items following standardized recipes.
• Collects, sorts and counts bills and coins from sales.
• May generate end-of-day reports from POS.
