Job summary

Waverly Community Schools is seeking a Food Service Kitchen Helper FS3 for a 3-hour daily shift at the High School. This role supports all food service operations under the director of Food Services, filling in for daily absences and assisting in daily department management.

Starting salary is $15.80 per hour with a progression to $17.03 per hour after the fourth month, per the WESPA Master Agreement. Immediate start; 2026-27 school year employment and benefits as per district policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Federal School Lunch Program and local health regulations.
• Must possess a Michigan driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel to all school buildings.
• Willingness to obtain required training for Food Service programs including allergy training.
• Willingness to assume responsibility.
• Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and written.

Responsibilities

• Take and enforce steps to comply with health, safety and sanitation regulations for adequate protection of cafeteria staff and customers.
• Supervise the production of meals served.
• Maintain a healthy, positive environment for students and staff.
• Supervision of students in cafeteria and serving lines.
• Ensure student/staff with special requirements needs are fulfilled.
• Communicate clearly and pleasantly with coworkers.
