Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a Cook II to prepare and serve nutritious meals for students under supervision of Cook III and the nutritionist.

The role requires knowledge of menu requirements, ability to operate kitchen equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety in a school kitchen. A high school diploma or GED is required, with opportunities to advance within the food service program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of menu requirements.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Ability to properly clean the kitchen area.
• Must have food handler's card.
• Assist Cook III in preparing large quantities of food, producing a quality product.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• High School Diploma or GED obtained.
• Passage of the State Competency Test for Cooks or hold the classification as a cook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner.
• Ensure during meal service periods the supply of food is replenished regularly.
• Assist in daily cleanup of the kitchen and service areas.
• Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms as scheduled.
• Responsible for storage and disposal of unused foods.
• Maintain high safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen.
• Participate in in-service training as directed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Principal, Nutritionist or Cook III.
