Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a cafeteria employee to support food service for church staff and temple patrons.

You will assist senior cooks, prepare simple to intermediate dishes, maintain a clean workspace, and help with food handling, storage, and serving. Strong reliability, basic math and good English communication are important; lifting up to 40 lbs and standing all shift are required.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of work experience; minimum 6 months in food preparation preferred.
• Must be able to obtain food handler permit where required.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Courtesy when dealing with others.
• Must read and understand weights, measures, and recipes in the language of the country.
• Must be able to lift/move/maneuver objects weighing up to 40 lbs, stand for entire shift, perform repetitive movements, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be punctual and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Serves food in cafeteria line.
• Cold food preparation such as salad bar, sandwiches, etc.
• Cook simple to intermediate recipes such as basic soups, sides, steamed vegetables, reheating.
• Baking simple to intermediate recipes such as cookies, ready-to-cook pies, cinnamon rolls, pastries, etc.
• Waste control, rotate FIFO.
• Ensures proper care of food goods and leftovers.
• Receive and store some orders.
• Maintains clean working area.
• Other duties as assigned.
