Job summary

Great Performances is seeking an energetic Café Attendant to join the Brooklyn Museum café on a part-time, on-site schedule. You will be the welcoming face of the café, greeting guests and taking orders while upholding high food safety standards and maintaining a clean, organized space.

You will operate the POS, handle cash and transactions, restock stations, and support opening/closing duties. Prior café experience is preferred; reliability, punctuality, and guest-focused service are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of café/food service experience.
• Experience operating a POS system and handling cash transactions.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of inventory and stocking procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist guests in a warm, professional manner.
• Provide recommendations on menu items and daily specials.
• Deliver excellent customer service and dining experience.
• Resolve questions or concerns promptly.
• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and light café items.
• Replenish grab-and-go items and rotate stock using FIFO.
• Process transactions using the POS system; balance cash drawer.
• Set up and maintain café stations; keep areas clean and stocked.
• Assist with deliveries and event support as needed.
