Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Department Manager in the Café to lead daily cafe operations, supervise team members, and deliver outstanding customer service in a campus-store environment. You will train staff, manage food and beverage preparation, ensure product freshness and safety, drive sales through promotions, and maintain a clean, welcoming cafe.

Full-time shifts require at least 30 hours weekly, with flexible evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail service setting as a manager or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Previous food handling experience preferred.
• High-energy, friendly personality, with strong communication skills to interact with a variety of people.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily cafe operations and supervise team members in the cafe.
• Ensure availability, freshness, and quality of products; drive sales and promotions.
• Enforce safe food handling and loss prevention practices; maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the cafe.
• Conduct regular meetings with team to provide feedback on sales and upcoming promotions.
