Job summary

Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace in Livonia is seeking a Cook for the Café to prepare and cook a variety of pastas, sandwiches, salads, and sides according to company recipes. You will operate grills, fryers, ovens, and other equipment, ensuring quality and safety.

The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and follow sanitation guidelines. Benefits include 401(k), health and dental insurance, PTO, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• One year of cook experience preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of the quality standards, preparation methods, etc. of products in the department.
• Able to operate ovens, grills, stoves, knives, slicers (must be 18+ to use slicers).
• Ability to work in extreme cold and wet/humid conditions.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for 8+ hours.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook pastas, sandwiches, sides, salads, etc. per company recipes.
• Operate large-volume cooking equipment (grills, fryers, griddles).
• Turn or stir foods for even cooking.
• Bake, roast, broil, and grill meats, fish, vegetables and other foods.
• Maintain correct temperatures and sanitary handling.
• Observe and test foods for doneness and quality.
• Clean and inspect galley equipment and work areas.
• Comply with safety and sanitation policies.
• Notify management of safety or equipment issues.
• Assist in training associates.
• Other duties as assigned.
