Job summary

The Country Club in Massachusetts seeks a Café Attendant to deliver exceptional service to members and guests in the Stables Café. You will craft beverages and fare per club specifications, greet members by name, and work both independently and with a team to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience.

Responsibilities include handling the POS system, opening/closing tasks, and attending trainings like barista tastings. TIPs certification is encouraged for reimbursement.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of café/barista or F&B experience.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • TIPs Certification (eligible for reimbursement).

  • Knowledge and use of the POS system.
  • Ensure opening tasks are complete prior to service.
  • Ensure closing tasks are complete prior to staff departure.
  • Take initiative to set service areas prior to service.
  • Report significant compliments, suggestions, or issues to supervisor.
  • Attend additional training and tastings as scheduled.
  • Complete prep/side work to stay prepared for each team.
  • Greet members and families by name and know preferences/allergies.
  • Communicate courteously with members.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Job description

The Café Attendant will provide exceptional service to members and their guests in the Stables Café outlet. The ideal candidate will employ a service-first approach to crafting and serving various beverages and fare in line with member and Club specifications. They will communicate courteously and politely with members daily, and work both independently and as part of a team to support a smooth, enjoyable member experience.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare beverages and food items in a timely manner, as ordered
  • Basic knowledge of our menu and being able to answer questions about ingredients or preparation techniques
  • Knowledge and use of the POS system
  • Ensure that all opening tasks are complete prior to service
  • Ensure all closing tasks are complete prior to staff departure
  • Take initiative in ensuring that all services areas are set prior to service
  • Report any significant compliments, suggestions, or issues to your supervisor
  • Attend additional training and menu tastings as scheduled, e.g., barista tastings, service training, etc.
  • Complete prep/side work tasks before, during, and after service to ensure preparedness for each team
  • Ability to greet members and their families by name and retain knowledge of preferences and allergies
  • Communicate courteously and politely with members
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned

Required Skills:

  • 1+ years of prior café/barista or F&B experience
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English conversationally
  • Availability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Specialized Knowledge/Licenses Required:

  • TIPs Certification (eligible for reimbursement)
  • Specialty coffee drink knowledge is preferred

Uniform Requirements:

  • Black, clean, pressed dress shirt (Provided by TCC)
  • Black apron (Provided by TCC)
  • Black slacks/pants (Denim, yoga pants/leggings, or sweatpants are not permitted)
  • Black belt with a simple belt buckle
  • Black socks that go above the ankle
  • Completely black, non-slip shoes with subtle/no branding (sneakers are okay but must be all black)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able bend and reach for items off shelf, carry trays, and be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8-10 hours
  • Must be comfortable and able to use blenders, ovens, and café equipment
  • Able to use a touchscreen Point of Sale system
