Muir Wood National Monument and Muir Woods Trading Company was o riginally established as a national monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. The park was named in honor of the revered naturalist John Muir, who declared the site was “the best tree-lover’s monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world.” In the Trading Company we provide a place for visitors to stroll and select products that have been procured honoring the legacy of John Muir. Our products reflect the conservation, sustainability and ecological identity of the site.
Summary of Position
Responsible for preparing food and beverage items in accordance with recipes and established Company standards to deliver extraordinary hospitality. This position requires the flexibility to work in food preparation, packaging, cashiering and fulfilling beverage orders.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Café Manager and/or Lead in ensuring that Food and Beverage items are prepared and served according to recipes and Company standards.
- Ensure accuracy of all guest orders by maintaining expert knowledge of Point-of-Sale (POS) system(s)
- Possess thorough and accurate knowledge of menu items and specials
- Clean and maintain all assigned areas throughout shift, keeping all “First Guest Fresh”.
- Work individually and with the team, to surpass expectations in an efficient, motivated and positive, can‑do manner.
- Ensure alcoholic/non‑alcoholic beverages are served in accordance with Federal, State, Local regulations and Company procedures
- Understand Company ISO (Environmental & Quality) management systems, Health and Safety standards, policies, goals and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas
- Adhere to Company Cash Handling Procedures
- Complete assigned duties, checklists and other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Possess ServSafe Certification in accordance with Company policy
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, holiday shifts
- Excellent communication skills and be a team player capable of encouraging others in a positive manner
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and handle tasks involving bending, twisting and squatting
- Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast‑paced environment, in close proximity to other people
