Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products is seeking an experienced CAE Body / Structural Durability Engineer to support vehicle body and structural durability analysis.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Abaqus and Nastran, performing FEA, durability, fatigue analyses, and correlating simulations with physical testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in CAE/FEA and structural durability analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Abaqus and Nastran.
• Strong understanding of finite element analysis, structural mechanics, and fatigue principles.
• Experience with automotive body structures or vehicle structural components.
• Ability to interpret and communicate CAE simulation results.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEA and structural durability analysis for automotive body structures and components.
• Develop, prepare, and execute CAE models using Abaqus and Nastran.
• Perform static, modal, linear/non-linear, and durability/fatigue analyses.
• Evaluate structural performance, stress, strain, displacement, and fatigue life.
• Support BIW, closures, underbody, and structural components analysis.
• Perform load-case definition, boundary-condition setup, model preparation, and result evaluation.
• Review CAE results and identify potential structural weaknesses and failure modes.
• Support design optimization and recommend engineering solutions to improve structural durability.
• Correlate CAE results with physical test data and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare technical reports, analysis summaries, and engineering recommendations.
• Work closely with design, testing, materials, and other engineering teams to resolve structural issues.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate technical findings to engineering stakeholders.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced CAE Body / Structural Durability Engineer with strong expertise in Abaqus and Nastran to support vehicle body and structural durability analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Perform FEA and structural durability analysis for automotive body structures and components.
• Develop, prepare, and execute CAE models using Abaqus and Nastran.

• Experience with correlation between CAE simulation and physical testing.
• Knowledge of material properties, joints, welds, and structural load paths.
• Experience working with OEM or automotive engineering teams.
