Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Garden Grove, CA is seeking a Plating Technician to perform cadmium plating and metal finishing per AMS QQ-P-416 and company procedures.

You will prepare parts, operate plating equipment, monitor baths, inspect thickness and adhesion, and maintain accurate records while following safety and ITAR-related restrictions. This is a hands-on role in an aerospace manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
• Experience in metal finishing, plating, or related manufacturing is a plus.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications; follow detailed procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform cadmium plating per established procedures (AMS QQ-P-416).
• Prepare parts through cleaning, rinsing, and surface prep.
• Operate rack and barrel plating systems as required by part size.
• Monitor and adjust plating parameters (voltage, current density, time, temperature).
• Maintain chemical baths and assist with solutions.
• Inspect plated parts for thickness, coverage, and defects.
• Support testing (adhesion, thickness verification, corrosion resistance).
• Keep accurate production and quality records.
• Follow safety procedures for hazardous chemicals.
• Identify defects and take corrective actions (stripping/reprocessing).
• Support continuous improvement and quality compliance.
