Job summary

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is recruiting Cadet State Troopers to enter AZ P.O.S.T. Basic Training and related curriculum to learn general patrol duties. Upon successful training and certification, incumbents are reclassified to State Trooper and serve across the state as needed.

Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Arizona during assignments. Participation includes written exams, physical fitness tests, and ongoing training to prepare for a career in law enforcement

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and a high school graduate or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at the completion of AZ P.O.S.T. basic training curriculum.
• By start date, must reside in Arizona and have a valid Arizona driver license.

Responsibilities

• Learns patrol, investigation, traffic control and safety, police methods, first aid, and community relations.
• Learns federal, state, and local traffic and criminal laws.
• Learns Department policies and procedures.
• Learns to prepare clear, concise, and grammatically correct reports.
• Participates in a physical fitness program to develop required skills.
• Learns proper work habits, appearance, and interpersonal skills.
