Job summary

Arizona Department of Public Safety seeks State Trooper candidates who are current AZ POST-certified peace officers. Cadet State Trooper option available if not certified. March 1, 2027 is the next trooper academy date.

Responsibilities include highway patrol, traffic enforcement, investigations, and general police duties. Testing includes PAT and firearms assessment at Ben Avery facility in Phoenix. Eligibility list will be used to fill vacancies; progression depends on performance and training

Qualifications

• AZ POST certification required as regular peace officer.
• Minimum of three years of experience as sworn peace officer.

Responsibilities

• Patrols highways and performs general duty police work.
• Enforces traffic laws and protects life and property.
• arrests suspects and transports to jail.
• Writes detailed police reports and testifies in court when required.
• Conducts investigations and gathers evidence.
• Maintains liaison with other law enforcement agencies.
