Job summary

Virginia Military Institute is seeking part-time Cadet-Athlete Development Subject Area Tutors to work with cadet-athletes in our Cadet-Athlete Development Office content tutoring programs. This hourly staff appointment reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Cadet Athlete Success and involves group and individual tutoring across various academic areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the discipline to be tutored.
• 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher as an undergraduate.
• Have completed the class(es) or a similar class to be tutored with a grade of B or better.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with NCAA, Southern Conference and VMI rules.
• Attend professional development and staff meetings as required.
• Tutor cadets individually or in groups to improve subject understanding and study skills.
• Be punctual for appointments and sessions; keep schedules on track.
• Communicate professionally with cadet-athletes and maintain rapport.
• Support the tutoring philosophy and the VMI Honor Code; do not do cadet’s work.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher / current student with 30 credits toward major

GPA 3.0 or higher

Completed tutor-class or equivalent with grade B or better
