CADD Technician — Power Delivery Substation Drafting

Job summary

HDR Michigan, Inc. is seeking a CADD Technician to join our growing Power Delivery team. Building on your drafting and design expertise, you will create and modify electric substation drawings, distribution drawings, and transmission line drawings.

You will work under supervision to deliver precise CAD outputs, leveraging AutoCAD or MicroStation, and collaborate with engineers and architects in a fast-paced, employee-owned environment. This role is based in Ann Arbor, MI.

Qualifications

• One year or more experience working for an A/E firm or Utility company performing tasks aligned with the responsibilities above.
• Associate or technical school degree, or combination of education and relevant experience
• Knowledge of standard CAD Software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts, workflows and deliverables
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Perform discipline specific drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques, under the direct supervision of an Architect/Engineer, or other technical professional
• Prepare drawings, layouts, sketches, maps and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided design software
• Perform other duties as needed
