Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in anatomy, biology, or another health-related field.
  • 0-2 years MT1, 2-4 years MT2 experience.
  • Mortuary, dissection or related experience.
  • Four years of cadaver experience can substitute for the bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and catalog human remains for the willed body program.
  • Evaluate, blood test and embalm donors.
  • Cremate donors and prepare donors for grads and post-grad courses.
  • Oversee donors in courses and manage hazardous chemicals.
  • Clean and maintain crematory, labs and the morgue, including freezers and cold boxes.
  • Transport donors to LSUHSC and affiliated institutions.
  • Maintain a culture of respect and advocacy for donors and families.
