LSUHSC-New Orleans is seeking a Morgue Technician to manage donor cadaveric remains within the willed body program. You will receive, catalog, and ensure respectful handling of donations across procedures and coursework.
The role includes evaluating, blood testing and embalming, cremation, preparation for graduate and medical courses, and supervision of donors in classes. Hazardous chemicals are handled, and morgue, labs, crematory spaces are kept clean and safe.
The Morgue Technician will be responsible for the cadaveric remains of donors to the willed body program at LSUHSC-New Orleans. The incumbent will receive and catalog human remains; evaluate, blood test and embalm donors; cremate donors; prepare donors for use in graduate and post-graduate courses and oversee donors in courses; manage and dispose of hazardous chemicals; clean and maintain crematory, labs and the morgue, including freezers and cold boxes; transport donors to LSUHSC and affiliated institutions; and maintain a culture of respect and advocacy for donors and their families while acting as an ambassador the LSUHSC willed body program.
