Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a CAD Technician, preferably within the metal fabrication, fencing, or construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and civil construction drawings.
• Experience in the fabrication and welding industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain electronic CAD drawings and fabrication files.
• Develop detailed shop drawings, design details, site layouts, and project submittals.
• Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, fabrication, and project management teams.

Hercules Custom Iron is a premier custom metal fabrication, fencing, and perimeter security company serving the DC, Virginia, and Maryland region. We specialize in commercial and high-security projects at some of the most prestigious and secure locations in the United States. We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our growing team in Frederick, Maryland.

As a CAD Technician, you will play a key role in the design, drafting, and execution of custom ornamental and high-security fencing systems. This position requires strong technical drafting abilities, collaboration across departments, and the ability to transform concepts into precise fabrication and construction drawings. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain electronic CAD drawings and fabrication files
• Develop detailed shop drawings, design details, site layouts, and project submittals
• Interpret and work from architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications
• Produce accurate 2D and 3D models for fabrication and installation purposes
• Develop and maintain a library of standard drawings and drafting templates
• Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, fabrication, and project management teams
• Identify design conflicts and propose practical solutions
• Ensure drawings meet company standards, client requirements, and industry codes
• Support project execution from concept through fabrication and installation

Qualifications & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience as a CAD Technician, preferably within the metal fabrication, fencing, or construction industry
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software required
• Experience with SolidWorks required
• Strong technical drafting and detailing skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and civil construction drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication methods, welding practices, and construction materials preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset
• Experience in the fabrication and welding industry strongly preferred
