Job Title: CAD Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a CAD Technician who will be responsible for opening, revising, plotting, and saving drawing CAD files, as well as assisting in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying the completeness of drawing and project document packages. The role requires knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD packages, and the ability to learn multiple software platforms including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. The candidate will attend project-specific meetings as required, manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments. The ability to work extended hours or after hours when required is essential. Additionally, the role involves learning and helping to find ways to improve engineering CAD standards and effective communication with the project team.

Responsibilities

• Open, revise, plot, and save drawing CAD files.
• Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
• Develop knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
• Support CAD technicians and CAD operators in skill development.
• Learn and utilize multiple software platforms including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Attend project-specific meetings as required.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work effectively under pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments.
• Work extended hours or after hours when required.
• Contribute to improving engineering CAD standards.
• Communicate effectively with the project team.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, specifically in Substation (Protection & Controls).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD.
• Associate Degree or Certification from a Technical School in Drafting.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with substation design.
• Knowledge of CAD software beyond AutoCAD.
  
  

Work Environment

The preferred location for this role is in the Pittsburgh or Chicago office. However, candidates with 3+ years of experience may have flexibility in their work location. This position offers the opportunity to support large utilities throughout the country, and the candidate will be joining a growing team that offers upward mobility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
