We are currently searching for a Junior and Senior CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Texas.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of geometric design projects.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assist engineers using OpenRoads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects
• Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
• Prepare minor mathematical and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
• Work with engineers to develop 3D models using OpenRoads Designer
• Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure compliance
• Research design options and document findings
• Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor
• Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Be a team player and assist other groups as needed

What you need to have:

• Associate degree from a technical or four-year college in Computer Aided Drafting or a similar field
• 3-15 years of roadway drafting experience; candidates with less than 3 years will be considered if they have relevant education
• Experience in OpenRoads Designer
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
