Job Summary
The CAD Operator and Low Voltage Systems Designer is responsible for creating 2D and 3D designs for fire protection and low voltage system projects using software. The role involves coordinating tasks to establish timelines and budgets, solving problems throughout the project, and supporting internal and external customers with system-related questions. Most responsibilities are performed in the office, with occasional site surveys.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create complete drawing and submittal packages for low voltage system projects as directed by the Construction Manager
- Develop and maintain drawing schedules in collaboration with the Construction Manager
- Complete documents and designs within budget constraints
- Attend weekly meetings with Projects and Sales teams
- Perform material take-offs and update work orders in project management software
- Prepare owner documentation packages, archive drawings, and create system service files
- Support Sales with estimating and technical expertise
- Conduct field surveys as needed
- Maintain accurate time sheets for project costing
- Be punctual and productive during work hours

Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in CAD and design
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Visio)
- Ability to sit for extended periods and operate computers
- Decision-making skills based on design and code requirements
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of mathematics, engineering, and industry standards
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office
- Reliable transportation, organized, detail-oriented, and good time management
- Analytical problem-solving skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Motivated to learn and grow
- Overtime may be available based on project deadlines
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with potential off-site industrial environments
- Ability to climb ladders and lift 25+ lbs
- Ability to sit for long periods
