Job summary

Rinker Materials Career Center in DeLand, FL, is seeking a CAD Operator to create and modify detailed drawings for concrete pipe products using CAD software. You will work with engineering and production teams on new product design and generate precise manufacturing plans.

The role requires strong math skills, experience reading civil/structural plans, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Prior precast concrete or state DOT project experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or at least two years CAD experience.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Able to read and understand civil and structural plans.
  • Experience with precast concrete structures, DOT projects, or water/wastewater projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed drawings, plans and specifications for concrete pipe products using CAD.
  • Assist in design and development of new concrete pipe products with engineering and production teams.
  • Generate technical drawings including dimensions, materials and manufacturing specs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and stakeholders to capture design requirements.
  • Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Maintain drawing files, revisions and version control.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to design changes and project details.
  • Coordinate with production and procurement to allocate materials based on design specs.
  • Identify design-related issues and propose solutions to improve efficiency and functionality.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to align on requirements and timelines.
  • Ensure designs adhere to safety regulations and codes.
  • Stay updated on CAD software advances and best practices.

About the Role
  • Develop detailed drawings, plans, and specifications for concrete pipe products using CAD software.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree or a minimum of two years CAD experience, along with knowledge of standard drawing practices.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel
  • Must possess strong mathematical skills.
  • Able to read and understand civil and structural construction plans.
  • Prior experience with precast concrete structures, state DOT projects, or water/wastewater treatment projects a plus.
  • Must be comfortable and able to perform the duties of this position effectively in a fast-paced, ever changing business environment with ongoing, and often competing, project deadlines.
  • Ability to independently manage projects, gathering all information, materials and authorizations.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and a passion for solving problems; anticipating and preventing errors.
  • Must work and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals from executives to production employees in order to gather information and authorizations critical to the success of the work process.
  • Provide mature and balanced decisions in an effort to prioritize between production demands, engineering projects and special assignments.
  • Have proven track record of excellence in organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks and project priorities effectively.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to positively influence others, coupled with an optimistic attitude and commitment to get the job done on time and to specifications every time.
