Job summary

Tectonics Industries LLC is seeking a CAD Designer / SolidWorks Drafter to transform customer concepts into precise 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. You’ll work with aluminum extrusion profiles and Snap Tube systems to design exhibits, trade show booths, and structural frames, while programming laser and extrusion cutters for production.

You will collaborate with Operations and Engineering to ensure accurate BOMs, shop-floor support, and strict drawing standards.

Qualifications

Associate Degree or Technical Certificate in CAD/Drafting or Mechanical Design Technology.
0–3+ years of practical CAD drafting/modeling experience in custom manufacturing, fabrication, or display environments.
Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks (3D assembly design, weldments, and 2D detail drawing creation).
Ability to read, interpret, and translate 2D customer blueprints into buildable 3D models.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and available to work full-time on-site in Auburn Hills, MI.

Responsibilities

3D CAD Modeling: build accurate 3D assemblies and parts in SolidWorks using standard extrusion systems.
Machine Programming & CAM: convert SolidWorks models into machine files for laser and extrusion cutting equipment.
Customer Approval Packages: prepare clear 2D drawings and 3D views for review and sign-off.
Production & Fabrication Drafting: generate fabrication drawings, BOMs, and cut lists after approval.
Trade Show & Exhibit Layouts: assist with booth layouts and structural frame design.
