Job summary

Alloy Engineering, a 100% employee-owned metal fabrication manufacturer in Berea, Ohio, seeks a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support high-temperature and corrosive industrial applications. You will develop accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, collaborating with engineering, sales, production, and vendors to deliver manufacturable solutions from concept through fabrication.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D CAD; ability to produce 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T, weld symbols, tolerancing, and fabrication drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D part models, assemblies, and 2D production drawings in SolidWorks.
• Convert customer drawings, specifications, sketches, and concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Prepare shop fabrication drawings, layouts, and BOMs to support production.
• Apply dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, notes, and material specs to drawings.
• Review designs for accuracy, fit, function, manufacturability, and compliance with AWS/ASME standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop and refine design concepts for custom equipment and components.
• Coordinate with production, welding, machining, forming, quality, sales, and vendors to resolve drawing questions.
• Create Alloy Engineering drawings from original concepts or customer models.
• Maintain part numbers, drawings, files, and revision histories in the vault/PDMS.
• Process drawing updates and engineering changes while maintaining revision control.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate technical information clearly.
• Support continuous improvement to standardize drawings and reduce rework.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities meeting quality and schedule goals.
