Newport News Shipbuilding designs components or portions of systems and refines existing designs to improve products and manufacturing processes. Using CAD/CAM tools like NX, CATIA, and AutoCAD, engineers gather data, perform calculations, and prepare rough layouts for design reviews.

You will coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture and compliance with specifications.

Formación

• Associate's Degree and 0 years of relevant experience.
• NNS Apprentice School graduate.
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
• High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience.
• High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience.

Responsabilidades

• Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Uses CAD tools such as CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA to prepare layouts and proposals.
• Gathers information, performs studies and calculations, and prepares rough layouts to present design proposals.
• Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups for manufacturability and contractual specs.
