Job summary

Lennox AES, a division of Lennox, seeks a CAD Designer I to design and produce drawings for metal fabrication components within the HVAC industry. You will ensure product specs are met, verify customer approvals, and manage the product database by illustrating drawings from plans and literature.

You will collaborate with sales and other plant departments to ensure accuracy, update drawings for continuous production, and develop tools to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in drafting design or equivalent; 1–3 years drafting experience preferred.
  • Experience with analytical and CAD software including SolidWorks preferred.
  • Knowledge of design techniques for production of technical plans and drawings.
  • HVAC industry experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain product documentation and bills of material.
  • Collaborate with sales staff and customers to develop drawings from sketches and plans.
  • Ensure drawings convey accurate information and are free from errors.
  • Update drawings to facilitate continuous production and prevent delays.

AES a division of Lennox

was established in 1988 and is one of the largest manufacturers of roof curbs and drop box diffuser systems in the nation. We have recently expanded our capabilities as a single source supplier by adding a Mechanical Services Division as well as becoming a Misc. Steel manufacturer. These new services will reduce construction costs and eliminate coordination with multiple suppliers and subcontractors. Our focus will be to enhance the services provided to our General Contractor network nationwide. AES has 4 different fabrication facility locations nationwide to assist our customers and reduce their freight cost and shipment lead times.

As a CAD Designer (I), you will be responsible for designing and producing drawings for metal fabrication components within the HVAC industry. Your role will include ensuring product specifications are met, conducting customer verification approvals, and managing the product database. You will illustrate drawings based on product literature, architectural plans, and verbal instructions. Additionally, you will contribute to optimizing company operations for cost efficiency while ensuring quality, safety standards, and timely customer deliveries.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Create and maintain product documentation and bills of material.
  • Collaborate directly with sales staff and customers to develop drawings from sketches, blueprints, existing drawings, and photos, along with written and verbal instructions.
  • Work closely with all departments within the plant to guarantee that drawings are accurate, convey the correct information, and are free from errors. Update drawings as needed to facilitate continuous production and prevent delays.
  • Utilize drafting resources to create new tools that enhance efficiency, including hardware and software design.
  • Produce drawings based on customer, company, and vendor specifications, adhering to corporate drawing standards.
  • Undertake additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifcations
  • Associate's degree in drafting design or equivalent experience required; 1 to 3 years of drafting experience preferred.
  • Requires at least 1-3 years related experience
  • Experience with analytical and CAD software including SolidWorks preferred
  • Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • HVAC industry experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Skills
  • Proficiency in drafting and design, particularly with sheet metal products.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and architectural drawings.
  • Strong computer skills, including SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and email.
  • MRP experience is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and results-oriented mindset.
  • Mechanical and technical expertise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Compensation

This is a salaried non-exempt role. This means that employees are paid a salary and also receive overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law). The starting salary range for this role and market is between $57,000 - $74,500annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Employees in this role are also eligible for abonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan.
