Job summary

Tate in Columbia, MD is seeking a CAD Designer/Drafter to translate inputs from sales and R&D into precise models and drawings that meet engineering and customer requirements.

You will iterate CAD models, flag space and interference issues, and collaborate with engineers to develop reliable designs while supporting prototyping and continuous improvement efforts. Experience with Onshape is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of CAD modeling experience.
• Proficiency in engineering CAD software (Onshape experience is a plus).
• Understanding of basic engineering principles and manufacturability considerations
• Experience reviewing models and drawings and providing feedback
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web browsers
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Some programming knowledge (a plus)
• Ability to diagnose issues
• Some familiarity with 3D printing processes (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision in order to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings using CAD software from sketches, layouts, and/or notes provided by engineers.
• Collaborates directly with engineers to arrive at designs/solutions.
• Reviews drawings for correctness and conformance to standards.
• Participate in ongoing process improvement and best practices development.
• Support prototyping efforts through modeling.
• Document pain points and areas for improvement.
