Job summary

Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota, seeks a CAD Designer to transform project requirements into precise, manufacturable drawings for custom metal fabrication. You will produce accurate 2D/3D models, review specs, and support project teams.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years CAD experience, familiarity with AutoCAD/Autodesk Inventor, and ability to read complex drawings. The role emphasizes manufacturability, collaboration, and on-site work with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher technical degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
• 1–3 years CAD design experience preferred.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD; AutoCAD and Inventor preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and BOMs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds and work in manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate 2D and 3D models and shop/fabrication drawings based on client requirements and specs.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, clients, and internal teams to clarify project needs.
• Review drawings and specs to identify missing information or manufacturability concerns.
• Develop detailed fabrication drawings including assemblies, materials, weld data, and tolerances.
• Maintain drawing revisions and ensure proper document control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design with manufacturability in mind, considering equipment capabilities and materials.
• Support shop-floor with design intent, resolving discrepancies, updating drawings as needed.
• Assist management, procurement, and vendors with technical questions about drawings/materials.
• Maintain drawing documentation and Bills of Materials for projects.
• Communicate risks and scope changes early to prevent delays.
• Support CAD standards and templates improvements.
