Job summary

Splintek Inc. in Lenexa, KS is seeking a CAD Designer to translate engineering directions into initial 2D/3D designs for plastic consumer devices.

You’ll render concepts, prepare drawings, and align designs with molding constraints and machine specs, collaborating with engineering and production teams. Requirements include an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 2 years of CAD design experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD/CAM tools.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of CAD Designer experience.
• Cutter path verification experience.
• Basic knowledge of plastics and plastic mold interaction.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Master-Cam, and CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to apply geometry and trigonometry concepts to practical designs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare initial conceptual CAD designs of company products under direction.
• Interpret directions with customer needs and company capabilities.
• Create 2D and 3D designs through rendering, drawings, and samples.
• Address molding constraints and machine specs in designs.
• Collaborate with all departments to translate designs into prototypes.
• Print prototype designs in 3D concept visualization for testing.
• Review prototypes for quality and proper design interpretation.
• Communicate issues to appropriate department and incorporate feedback.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and production schedules.
• Suggest process improvements to increase throughput and reduce scrap.
