Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE

A CAD Designer creates and maintains detailed engineering drawings and layouts for utility‑scale solar and wind projects, working closely with engineers and project teams to develop site layouts, electrical and civil drawings, equipment arrangements, and construction documents while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.

Responsibilities

• Support estimating and engineering efforts with quantity takeoffs, drafting, modeling, and data analysis.
• Generate bid quantities and perform takeoffs for bid items.
• Communicate discrepancies noted in plans and specifications to estimators/engineers.
• Organize and convert incoming CAD/GIS bid data for importing into Autodesk Civil3D, Map3D, ESRI ArcGIS or similar programs.
• Track design changes and additions/upgrades to all plans, communicating the scope of changes to the project teams.
• Develop knowledge of renewable energy industry standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a two‑year technical degree in Drafting and Design – Civil, Electrical, and/or Mechanical or related degree (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering Technology), or directly relevant experience in utility‑scale renewables.
• Previous CAD design or related experience preferred.
• Proficient computer and technical skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and Revu/Bluebeam.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $26.41 – $36.32 per hour, Individual Compensation to be determined based on experience and qualifications, balanced against internal equity.
