Blattner Company, a long-established leader in U.S. renewable energy construction, is seeking an Electrical Estimator to help develop competitive proposals for utility-scale wind, solar and storage projects.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in construction, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Two+ years in renewable construction estimating or four+ years in non-renewable estimating.
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Review specs and drawings to define scope and required estimate content.
• Recommend design options based on cost, quality, and material availability.
• Develop project plan and schedule with methods explanation.
• Prepare a level one schedule and sequencing for crew sizing and productivity.
• Prepare and issue RFPs to qualified vendors and subs for bid evaluation.
• Evaluate quotes using clear commercial and technical criteria.
• Ensure RFPs establish scope and pricing bases from suppliers.
• Calculate quantity takeoffs, material costs, labor, equipment, and items.
• Track historical data and compile reports for future estimates.
• Assess materials/services from qualified suppliers on technical and commercial merit.
• Compare bids to ensure best value and protect against claims.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

We're currently hiring Electrical Estimators across multiple renewable energy business units, including: Wind Solar Battery Energy Storage (BESS)

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an Electrical Estimator, you'll support the development of competitive, innovative, and technically sound proposals for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Working alongside Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management, you'll help develop conceptual electrical solutions that support projects from early opportunity through contract award. A typical day may involve reviewing Owner RFPs, preparing quantity takeoffs, assisting with electrical estimates, coordinating with Engineers of Record (EOR), utilities, and vendors, and supporting estimates for collection systems, substations, underground cable systems, utility interconnections, SCADA, protection and control systems, and other electrical infrastructure. You'll contribute to identifying project risks, evaluating constructability, and developing value engineering solutions that strengthen proposal competitiveness.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

• Reviews specifications and drawings to determine and establish scope of work responsibilities, required estimate contents, and critical tasks needed to complete the project.
• Recommends best solution from design options based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials.
• Develops a plan for building and scheduling the project along with provides an explanation of the methods used.
• Prepare a level one schedule and thought process for sequencing the project to determine crew size, resources, and productivity used.
• Demonstrates proficiency in developing and issuing of RFP’s to qualified vendors and subcontractors to ensure proposals are accurately evaluated prior to the bid review process.
• Evaluate quotes using comparison metrics to determine most commercially and technically responsible bidders.
• Ensures RFP’s establish basis of scope and pricing from supplier/subcontractor.
• Calculates various statistical data: quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs, equipment cost, and specialty items.
• Tracks and research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compiles summary reports and bridging documents to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
• Investigates and evaluates materials and services incorporated into the project using only qualified suppliers/subcontractors based on technical and commercial merits.
• Evaluate materials and services comparing the technical and commercial aspects of each bid to ensure company is achieving the best value and is protected against potential claims.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• A four-year degree in Construction, Engineering or related field, or combinations of related education and experience required.
• Two or more years of progressive related experience in the renewable construction industry (wind, solar, or battery storage) or four or more years of practical crew based estimating experience in other non-renewable construction industries.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Up to 25% of travel is required.

WHAT SETS YOU APART
