Job summary

Dewberry is offering a Summer 2027 CAD Designer Intern position in our Site Civil/Land Development Group based in Lakeland, FL. The role focuses on design and plan set preparation for commercial, power, multi-family, and residential projects, with activities including site layouts, detailing, and redline drafting for concepts to final drawings.

Qualifications

Pursuing an Associate’s of Arts or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience using Civil 3D to create surfaces, alignments and profiles is preferred.
Strong interest and excels in Math.
Willingness to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers.
Strong interest in all phases of Civil Engineering including site development, utilities, water resources, and construction.
High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.

Responsibilities

Provide drafting and design services by preparing AutoCAD 3D engineering drawings that compile to create a set of permittable plans.
Prepare designs from general instruction and preliminary sketches, diagrams or schematics.
Prepare working drawings from conceptual plan to PSP or Development Plan, final engineering documents and construction record drawings.
Coordinate with other team members including engineers, managers, administrative staff and construction staff members.
