Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a drafting and design support professional to assist in producing designs and specifications for planning, transportation, and infrastructure projects. You will gather data from sites, prepare precise drawings using 3D-CADD software, and ensure compliance with design standards while collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams.

The role requires a High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related experience, with preferred Associate’s degree.

Qualifications

• 3+ years post-education experience in drafting/design support
• Familiar with drafting and design principles, practices, process, methods and techniques
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements
• Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Capable self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to learn new techniques
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, math principles, spreadsheets and tools
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to policies

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, blueprints and drawings to support drafting and design activities
• Use 3D CADD software to assist with basic design details and prepare precise drawings
• Provide basic technical design assistance ensuring proper illustration, fit, form, and function
• Verify calculations and interpret contract plans and specifications, escalate issues when needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project phases and tasks
• Ensure plans meet city codes and regulations
• Prepare multiple design versions for review by the engineer
• Ensure accurate specifications of dimensions, materials, and procedures
• Work with engineer-in-charge and others on assigned project phases
• Complete training on assigned tasks
• Demonstrate knowledge of current drafting and design practices
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies
• Take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs
