Job summary

Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston invites applications for sparc! the ArtMobile Team Member with the Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). This contract role supports community arts projects across Boston neighborhoods.

sparc! the ArtMobile Team Member with the Center for Art and Community Partnerships

About:

sparc! the ArtMobile is an initiative of the Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP) at MassArt. sparc! ignites art and design in the neighborhoods of Boston while traveling as an all-purpose mobile base for innovative and intergenerational art and design programs, projects, and events. sparc! team members get off campus and into the communities of Boston while collaborating with Boston's artists, cultural and municipal organizations, schools, and businesses to utilize our shared resources. From collaborative painting workshops to community wide events, sparc! is a catalyst for community building, cross-cultural conversations, and dynamic learning and teaching. Position Description:

Responsibilities may include:

  • Work in close collaboration with other sparc! team members and CACP staff.
  • Attend sparc! events on and off-campus as assigned.
  • Assist with preparation and design of sparc! events, workshops, and demonstrations.
  • Attend weekly sparc! team meetings and/or field trips.(usually team meeting are Wednesdays from 1:15pm-2:15pm)
  • Provide weekly hours (4-6 hours). Tasks may include: cleaning, replenishing and organizing art supplies and the sparc! van and developing new projects.
  • Document sparc! events, edit digital images and videos
  • Contribute to CACP's social media platforms such as Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, etc.
  • Complete evaluations as required.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A love of people and community, as well as a sense of humor!
  • Desire to work collaboratively with people of all ages and stages
  • Desire to learn about Roxbury, Mission Hill, Dorchester, and other
  • neighborhoods of Boston
  • Good communication skills and punctuality

Other preferred skills / interests:

  • Creating and leading art-making workshops
  • Graphic Design experience
  • Photography and video editing skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Portuguese Creole is a plus
  • sparc! team members attend sparc! team meeting once a week (included in weekly hours)
  • provide 4-6 hours either in office or virtually per week
  • support sparc! events (varies per month, 4-6 additional hours)
  • Attend monthly PartnershipWORKS sessions on campus

PLEASE NOTE:

This position is part of the PartnershipWORKS program offered through MassArt's Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). If you are hired for this position you will become a member of the sparc! team AND a member of the full CACP student cohort.

The requirements for holding a PartnershipWORKS position through CACP are:

  • Commit to your position for the entire academic year (fall + spring semesters)
  • Participate in monthly PartnershipWORKS sessions
  • Complete time-sheets in a timely manner - every two weeks
  • Maintain communication with your supervisor(s)
