Job summary

Smyth Industries, Inc. in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Cable Tool Rig Operator with water infrastructure experience to join our field operations. This role focuses on daily rig activities, from drilling to rehabilitation and abandonment, while emphasizing safety and teamwork.

You will train crew, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards as part of a fast-paced, service-driven general contractor serving the water and reclamation industry in the Southwest.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of geology and cable tool drilling methods.
• Knowledge of regional groundwater basins.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including occasional overnight travel.
• Valid driver's license, pass MVR and drug screening.
• Lift/carry 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of daily rig operations including drilling, rehabilitation and abandonment.
• Prepare crew with materials and equipment and ensure tools are ready.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite and ensure PPE use.
• Perform daily inspections of drill rigs and tools and coordinate maintenance.
• Record daily reports, logs, and timecards for compliance.
• Assist in training new crew members on operations and safety.
