Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking motivated Cable Technicians to support structured cabling and low-voltage projects throughout the Hartford, CT area. This fully onsite role focuses on installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling in commercial environments.

Ideal for technicians with experience in low-voltage systems; both experienced installers and those seeking career growth are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage experience.
• Experience pulling and terminating Cat5e, Cat6 and/or fiber optic cable.
• Ability to work on ladders and lifts and use hand tools and testing equipment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and secure Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
• Terminate copper and fiber cables following industry standards.
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, and sleeves.
• Perform labeling, documentation, and cable management.
• Test and troubleshoot network cabling systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.

Job Overview

TEKsystems is seeking motivated Cable Technicians to support structured cabling and low-voltage projects throughout the Hartford, CT area. This position is ideal for technicians with experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling in commercial environments.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and secure Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
• Terminate copper and fiber cables following industry standards
• Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, and sleeves
• Perform labeling, documentation, and cable management
• Test and troubleshoot network cabling systems

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 Certification
• T1/T2, C5/C6, or other low-voltage certifications
• Experience in commercial construction, healthcare, education, or data center environments
• Fiber termination and testing experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in various construction environments
• Comfortable working at heights when required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Waterbury, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
