Job summary

Proterial Cable America, Inc. in Ashaway, RI seeks an experienced Cable R&D Engineer to help customers develop cable and cable assembly designs and processes, ensuring quality and compliance in production transfers. The role involves collaboration across teams and exposure to manufacturing environments.

You will contribute to DFM, FMEA, cost estimates, tooling specifications, and project management to meet timelines and profitability, while learning PRL products and assisting sales training.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant experience.
• Experience in catheter assembly, cable assembly, or wire & cable.
• Experience in medical devices and components.
• Experience in cable and cable assembly production environments (extrusion, molding, connectors, tooling).
• Significant experience with suppliers and outside resources for materials, processes and equipment.
• Understanding of QMS requirements.
• Knowledge of routers, BOMs, WI's, costing systems, PFMEA.
• Functional use of CAD software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Project management using MS Project and Gantt charts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and Proterial teams to identify and resolve design risks.
• Vet new projects and quotes with timely, clear responses.
• Resolve technical problems in cable and assembly development.
• Present project details to stakeholders across time zones and languages.
• Assist in DFMs, FMEAs, cost estimates, and tooling input.
• Manage cross-functional projects to meet timelines and profitability.
• Learn PRL products and customer devices.
