Job summary

UCL Connections in Carrollton, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Cable Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will prepare, assemble, test, and terminate custom fiber optic and copper cable assemblies and wire harnesses according to customer specifications and quality standards.

• Experience assembling small components, cables, or electronic/mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with fiber optic cable preparation and termination preferred.
• Ability to read drawings, work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

• Build custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses per documentation.
• Prepare and terminate fiber optic cable assemblies including SC, LC, ST, FC, MTRJ, APC, MTP.
• Perform cutting, stripping, crimping, polishing, and other assembly steps.
• Inspect for quality and compliance throughout assembly.
• Communicate material shortages to Supervisor.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized work area.

Pay: $18 – $20 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Cable Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. The Cable Assembly Technician will be responsible for preparing, assembling, testing, and terminating custom fiber optic and copper cable assemblies and wire harnesses according to customer specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with small components, cable assemblies, fiber optics, copper cable, hand tools, and production equipment. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow documented processes, and a commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses according to process documentation, work instructions, drawings, and customer specifications.
• Prepare and terminate various fiber optic cable assemblies and harnesses.
• Perform cable cutting, stripping, crimping, polishing, cleaving, breakout, and other assembly processes as required.
• Prepare and terminate various fiber optic connector types, including SC, LC, ST, FC, MTRJ, APC, MTP, and others.
• Work with both fiber optic and copper cable assemblies.
• Use various hand tools and production equipment, including cutters, wire strippers, crimping tools, and other assembly tools.
• Remove cable jackets, filler, and shielding and install components according to process documentation.
• Apply heat shrink, labels, tags, connectors, and other required components.
• Inspect work throughout the assembly process and upon completion to ensure compliance with documented quality standards.
• Perform quality checks on cable assemblies and wire harnesses.
• Review work orders for accuracy and ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
• Communicate material shortages or production concerns to the Supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with established company policies, procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work efficiently and accurately in a high-volume production environment while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members in a multicultural work environment.
• Follow documented processes, travelers, and production instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience Requirements

• 1–5 years of experience working with fiber optic cable, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience assembling small components, cables, or electronic/mechanical assemblies is preferred.
• Experience with fiber optic cable preparation and termination is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience working with fiber optic and copper cable assemblies.
• Experience preparing and terminating fiber optic cable harnesses and assemblies.
• Familiarity with fiber optic assembly techniques, crimping tools, cable preparation, heat shrink application, labeling, and connector termination.
• Ability to read drawings, work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under production deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and initiative.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency preferred.
• Ability to read and write English preferred.
• Ability to work successfully in a multicultural team environment.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This position involves working in a manufacturing and production environment and may require frequent use of hands and fingers to handle small components, cables, tools, and equipment. Employees must be able to follow all established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
