Job summary

Mead Lumber Company in Sterling, CO, is seeking a Cabinet Sales Representative to design and sell cabinet projects at a busy retail location. You will meet with customers, plan layouts, select finishes, and ensure materials are ordered and delivered on schedule.

The role requires strong sales and design skills, accurate measurements, and excellent customer service. It is a full-time, on-site position with an ESOP and commission incentives.

Qualifications

  • Relevant sales or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cabinet products, construction methods, layouts, and design concepts is a plus.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with customers and contractors.
  • Ability to read measurements, layouts, blueprints, and project plans.
  • Accurate math and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers, contractors, and builders to discuss project needs and budgets.
  • Create and revise cabinet layouts and project plans based on space.
  • Assist with selecting cabinet styles, colors, finishes, and hardware.
  • Obtain and verify accurate project measurements for fit.
  • Prepare quotes and project information for customers.
  • Review designs with customers before placing orders.
  • Order cabinets, hardware, and materials to complete projects.
  • Coordinate availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate updates and changes to customers and teams.
  • Maintain accurate customer, sales, orders, and project records.

Job Summary: The Cabinet Sales Representative works closely with customers and contractors to plan and design cabinet projects that meet their needs, style, and budget. This position assists with project layouts, measurements, plans, colors, styles, and product selections while ensuring all necessary materials are ordered and available to successfully complete the project.

Pay for this Role: $18.00 an hour plus commission.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, on-site retail position. Remote work is not available for this role. This position works directly with customers in our retail location to assist with cabinet design, product selection, and sales.

Key responsibilities:

  • Meet with customers, contractors, and builders to discuss project needs, preferences, budget, and timelines.
  • Create and revise cabinet layouts and project plans based on customer needs and available space.
  • Assist customers with selecting cabinet styles, colors, finishes, hardware, and other design elements.
  • Obtain and verify accurate project measurements to ensure cabinet designs fit the intended space.
  • Prepare product recommendations, quotes, and project information for customers.
  • Review designs, measurements, and product selections with customers prior to placing orders.
  • Order cabinets, hardware, and other necessary materials to complete customer projects.
  • Coordinate product availability, lead times, delivery schedules, and project timelines.
  • Communicate with customers and contractors throughout the sales and ordering process regarding changes, delays, or other project updates.
  • Review incoming orders for accuracy and assist in resolving product, delivery, or order discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate customer, sales, order, and project documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, builders, and vendors.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and address questions or concerns.
  • Provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire sales and project process.
  • Use design software and Excel to manage layouts, pricing, and project data.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • Previous sales or customer service experience preferred; cabinet, building materials, construction, design, or drafting experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cabinet products, construction methods, layouts, and design concepts preferred.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills with the ability to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to read and understand measurements, layouts, blueprints, and project plans.
  • Strong basic math and measurement skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to assist customers with product, style, color, finish, and design selections.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple customer projects and orders at different stages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve design, measurement, product, and order-related issues.
  • Ability to learn and use computer-based design, estimating, ordering, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with customers, contractors, vendors, and other team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in sales, construction, drafting, interior design, or a related field preferred.
