Job summary

Glydways is transforming public transit with an autonomous cabin UX role. You will own the in-vehicle interface, ensuring fast, calm performance on constrained hardware and intermittent connectivity, delivering a reliable rider experience across on-vehicle displays and tablets.

You will work in a TypeScript stack (NestJS on Fastify, HTMX-driven UI), collaborating with Design, Compute, and Network teams to ship features for first deployments with real ownership and a clear ship date.

Qualifications

• Expert-level TypeScript across frontend and backend.
• Strong preference for hypermedia-driven architectures (HTMX).
• Production experience with Node.js backends (NestJS on Fastify).
• Experience streaming server state to UI (HTMX SSE/WebSocket).
• Hands-on WebRTC experience for media capture and signaling.
• Experience with Linux, containers, and edge deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, implementation, and reliability of the Cabin UX end to end.
• Build rider-facing interfaces for embedded/tablet displays.
• Integrate WebRTC between cabin and operators with graceful degradation.
• Integrate audio/ambient systems with the cabin app.
• Render real-time vehicle telemetry data in the UI.
• Design for offline-first operation and intermittent connectivity.
• Deploy and update software on on-vehicle edge compute.
• Test on real hardware and in simulation environments.
• Develop schemas for relational and NoSQL stores used by cabin workflows.
• Collaborate with Design to ship measurable rider experiences.
• Support localization and accessibility across cabin apps.
• Mentor engineers and document best practices.
