Job summary

The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking Cabin Counselors to oversee cabin units and ensure camper safety. Responsibilities include coordinating activities, maintaining facilities, and assisting with camper check-in and check-out. Ideal candidates are at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, and are pursuing or have earned a Bachelor’s Degree. Lifeguard and CPR/AED Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the cabin units. Cabin Counselors will live in the cabins with campers.
2. Exercise good judgment and competence in implementing policies and standards to enhance the public regard toward the Y.
3. Assist with camper check-in and check-out.
4. Maintain the Camp Lakewood grounds and facilities, focusing on cabins both inside and out.
5. Help campers set up their cabins and bunks.
6. Establish and communicate the lost camper and cabin meeting spots.
7. Coordinate programs including clinics, swim tests, campfire activities, meals, and other scheduled activities.
8. Ensure timely arrival and departure for all activities.
9. Maintain safety in all programs and report incidents promptly.
10. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently pursuing or have earned a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Lifeguard and CPR/AED Certification preferred.
