Responsibilities:
  1. Directly oversee all camper behavior issues at camp.
  2. Work with staff to learn behavior management techniques and handle behavior issues, coordinating with GWRYMCA Child Care / Inclusion and Adaptive Support Department.
  3. Document all behavior-related incidents and follow the communication plan.
  4. Collaborate with counselors, support staff, program director, and parents to meet individual needs and establish behavior goals and modifications.
  5. Report incidents related to child abuse, camper conflicts, or injuries during behavior incidents.
  6. Modify camper behavior with the help of counselors and unit managers, documenting each case.
  7. Ensure unit managers check in with cabin counselors and maintain proper documentation.
  8. Observe behavior throughout camp and provide consultation to staff on behavior issues.
  9. Teach behavior management skills and documentation during staff training and throughout the summer.
  10. Supervise program activities to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
  11. Train, develop, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers; motivate staff to achieve goals.
  12. Coordinate facility use for activities and events.
  13. Maintain camp grounds and facilities.
  14. Schedule activities for cabins and units, and coordinate all-camp programs.
  15. Supervise cabins, clinic areas, and area directors to ensure proper programming.
  16. Implement safety standards across all programs.
  17. Handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  18. Assist in staff training and ensure effective camper learning and project completion.
  19. Coordinate meal hosting and cabin placements.
  20. Motivate, train, and lead staff during the summer season.
  21. Complete required documentation accurately.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Missouri Class E Driver's License (or equivalent) preferred.
  • 21 years of age preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of camp staff experience.
  • Completion of or willingness to obtain YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
