Job description

The Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a CRNA to join its Adult Anesthesiology Division. At Froedtert Surgery Center, anesthesiology involves a team approach with faculty anesthesiologists, fellows, residents, and advanced practice certified nurse anesthetists and CAAs. The successful candidate must provide high-quality anesthesia care to a complex patient population, working directly under the supervision of Adult Anesthesiologists and as part of a dedicated team of CAAs and nurse anesthetists.

Patient Care

We provide care at several locations in Milwaukee, including:

• Froedtert Hospital, a 689-bed Level-1 Trauma Center with state-of-the-art facilities across 32 ORs, plus additional anesthetizing locations and specialized units.
• The Milwaukee VA Medical Center, a 196-bed hospital with a large simulation center.
• Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital and Froedtert West Bend Hospital, smaller community hospitals with ambulatory surgery centers.
• Additional ambulatory surgery centers in Wauwatosa and Oak Creek.

The successful candidate must also be capable of providing anesthesia care to pediatric patients, working under supervision and as part of a highly trained team.

In this role you will:

• Administer general and local anesthesia
• Maintain anesthesia delivery systems and monitors, including testing and calibration
• Prepare patients for monitoring
• Monitor patients under anesthesia
• Make recommendations for anesthetic care plans
• Perform post-procedure assessments
• Operate anesthesia equipment and provide direct patient care before, during, and after procedures
• Obtain patient histories, conduct physical exams, and pre-procedure interviews
• Review medical histories for accuracy
• Order diagnostic and laboratory tests
• Collaborate with Anesthesiologists on procedure prep
• Employ emergency procedures as needed
• Handle administrative duties like medical record collection and patient follow-ups

These responsibilities are general; additional duties may be assigned. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
