Job summary

Arcadis U.S. Inc. seeks a mid-level Staff Archaeologist/Cultural Resources Specialist in California to lead fieldwork from site identification to data recovery and monitoring. This hybrid role blends field and office work across San Luis Obispo, Irvine, Los Angeles or San Jose.

You will travel 50–60% and supervise field crews, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with federal/state agencies. Strong GPS and NHPA knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in archaeology or related field and meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in cultural resources management with field and office roles.
• Experience supervising archaeological field crews and leading field projects.
• Practical field experience in California and working knowledge of GPS data collection.
• Experience with federal/state agencies and Section 106 of the NHPA; knowledge of related laws.
• Preferred: Qualified PI in California or ability to become PI.

Responsibilities

• Lead archaeological projects in California, performing all levels of investigation.
• Conduct fieldwork and manage staff and subcontractors; supervise crews in the field.
• Prepare technical reports and provide survey details to project teams.
• Travel up to 50% and collaborate with permitting teams and agency partners.
