Job summary

Arcadis in California is seeking a mid-level Staff Archaeologist/Cultural Resources Specialist for Irvine, Los Angeles, San Jose, and San Luis Obispo. You will lead field investigations (Class I–III), supervise field crews, and prepare technical reports, collaborating with the Enviro Socio Permitting team. Travel up to 50% and a hybrid work model are expected.

Preferred: PI eligibility in CA and knowledge of Section 106 NHPA and related CA laws to support infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards in archaeology.
• Master’s degree in archaeology or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in cultural resources management (field and office).
• Experience supervising archaeological field crews and projects.
• Practical field experience in California, US.
• Working knowledge of GPS systems and field data collection.
• Experience with federal land management agencies and state agencies.
• Knowledge of Section 106 NHPA and CA laws.
• Preferred: familiarity with FERC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead CA projects, manage multiple investigations (I–III) and monitoring.
• Conduct fieldwork and supervise field crews including subcontractors.
• Prepare technical reports and provide survey results to teams.
• Travel up to 50% and work in field and office environments.
