Job summary

CLEAResult is hiring an Energy Engineer III to lead energy-efficiency projects, identify savings opportunities, and quantify results for commercial/industrial clients. The role emphasizes a hands-on, technically robust approach and collaboration across teams.

Remote work is supported with a strong preference for candidates in the Bay Area or Los Angeles; California travel is required, with occasional overnight stays. The engineer will develop and deliver SEM solutions and support program goals.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred).
  • 8–10+ years in energy efficiency consulting or related.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Measurement and verification certification.
  • Field experience with energy audits and verifications.
  • BAS/RCx experience.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • MS Office proficiency; SQL/Power BI a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site visits to identify energy savings opportunities.
  • Calculate and report energy, demand savings, and GHG reductions.
  • Prepare technical documents and publish content.
  • Provide project oversight and QA/QC and communicate updates.
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team on SEM programs.
  • Apply HVAC systems knowledge to identify opportunities.
  • Develop and justify energy savings calculation methods.
  • Apply IPMVP options for measurement and verification.
  • Advise on program improvements and innovative solutions.
  • Work with reviewers to qualify custom projects and defend savings.
  • Resolve client/regulator issues affecting calculations or policy.
  • Maintain client satisfaction and develop new relationships.

Job Description

We are looking for a talented individual... To join our team as an Energy Engineer III. At CLEAResult, we lead the transition to a sustainable, equitable, and carbon-neutral energy-efficient future for our communities and our planet. This position will empower a motivated engineer to make a difference in the energy-efficiency industry by leading innovative and technically robust solutions toward identifying efficiency opportunities and quantifying savings potential. The individual will develop and deliver energy efficiency and integrated demand side management solutions as they relate to our Strategic Energy Management Commercial and Industrial Programs.

Please note: while the role is remote, strong preference will be given to candidates located in either the Bay area or the Los Angeles area in California. Travel throughout California will be required, and occasional overnight stays may be necessary. With engineers located throughout the state, we strive to assign engineers to work sites within driving distance where possible.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site visits to discover energy savings opportunities in commercial and/or industrial sites, collect information onsite needed for energy savings calculations, and present actionable and constructible measures for customer implementation.
  • Calculate and report out on energy and demand savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions for participant sites, consistent with the California SEM M&V Guide.
  • Write and inform technical documents and publications and conduct quality review of content.
  • Provide general project oversight and quality control/assurance and continuously inform customers and project team of updates and necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate and work within a multi-disciplinary team to perform and lead technical work supporting energy efficiency programs.
  • Apply deep knowledge of HVAC systems and controls, including during review of Building Automation Systems both virtually and in-person, to identify opportunities.
  • Develop and rationalize energy savings calculation methodologies.
  • Apply knowledge of IPMVP options for measurement and verification.
  • Provide technical or strategic direction on how to improve energy saving programs, recommend innovative solutions to program and client/utility policies, and champion solutions that will advance the energy efficiency industry.
  • Work with technical reviewers and evaluators to qualify custom projects and defend program savings.
  • Effectively resolve challenges faced with clients/contractors/regulators/governing entities to address deficiencies and/or inconsistencies in calculations and/or policy adherence.
  • Maintain client satisfaction and develop new client relationships.
Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical engineering preferred)
  • Experience level: 8-10+ years of applicable experience in energy efficiency consulting, program implementation, or consulting engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Measurement and verification certification
  • Field experience in independently conducting energy audits and verification inspections
  • BAS and/or RCx experience
  • Excellent technical and non-technical writing and communication abilities; ability to convey findings to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization and analysis tools is a plus
  • Industry knowledge of Strategic Energy Management preferred
Compensation

Compensation Range $106,300 - $121,500 Currency USD Type Salary Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. PE), for example.
