C.T. - Network Support Technician
Essential Functions
  1. Perform daily network programming, configuration, installations, monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting for all network infrastructure equipment and software to ensure reliable operation of the district’s wide and local area networks.
  2. Perform and coordinate network repairs, including fiber/ethernet cable installation, cable management, and Ethernet port repairs.
  3. Perform monthly routine firmware and maintenance upgrades on all network equipment: firewalls, switches, routers, network servers, UPS units, and wireless access points.
  4. Configure and troubleshoot the district's firewalls, remote access protocols, NAT translations, URL filtering, ISP routing, security policies, VPN access, decryption processes, and load‑balancing solutions while maintaining compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act and strengthening cybersecurity posture.
  5. Serve as a network resource for the annual network audit, collaborating on internal and external auditing tasks, including Active Directory, public IP, web, VPN, application security, and network segmentation.
  6. Collaborate with district divisions to support cybersecurity updates for all network‑connected devices, ensuring annual firmware updates and proper credentials before new system deployments.
  7. Communicate with other district leaders and ITS members to ensure device operating systems meet security compliance levels.
  8. Conduct a quarterly vulnerability penetration test to identify network weaknesses.
  9. Evaluate and resolve network connectivity issues through effective troubleshooting and collaboration with stakeholders and vendors.
  10. Research and recommend best practices, new technologies, and tools to enhance the district’s network and security infrastructure per NIST and CISA standards.
  11. Design, implement, and monitor all district WAN, LAN, wired and wireless networks, and network security measures, proactively resolving problems and planning for capacity.
  12. Perform proof‑of‑concept testing and build testbeds for new deployments to evaluate potential network impact.
  13. Proactively monitor network performance and integrity, taking corrective actions on connectivity, internet, wireless, UPS, VoIP, and support services.
  14. Maintain an inventory of all network equipment and applicable software.
  15. Prepare, assist, and update network documentation, including diagrams, topologies, IP subnets, security procedures, SLAs, and SOPs.
  16. Document and, when necessary, escalate all network‑related issues.
  17. Work closely with ITS executives, leaders, staff, and other departments to recommend, develop, implement, and support cost‑effective technology solutions.
  18. Assist in the assignment and completion of all network-related Help Desk requests.
  19. Perform all job‑related duties in a safe manner.
  20. Support computer assistants and regional technicians with student and staff device connectivity.
  21. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the Manager of Network Services or the Executive Director of Information Technology Services.
Qualifications
  1. Network Certificate and/or Security Certificate (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, N+, CCNA).
  2. Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience in Networking/Security (OSI, TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, DNS, DHCP).
  3. Knowledge of switching, routing protocols, wireless networks, and firewalls in a multi‑vendor environment.
  4. Prefer knowledge of Apple, Chromebook, Windows, and Active Directory.
  5. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a customer‑service focus.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
  7. High school diploma.
  8. Valid Driver’s License.
