Job summary

Summary Statement

This nursing/therapeutic support role implements treatment plans developed by professional staff. Work typically involves caring for one or more clients/patients/residents experiencing acute or chronic disabilities including physical, mental, and developmental disorders.

Essential Functions
  • Provide mentoring or orientation for newly hired or less experienced staff to ensure assignments are completed.
  • Lead individual or group therapeutic processes and discussions involving reality orientation, sensory stimulation, range‑of‑motion exercises, and application of splints or braces.
  • Participate on an interdisciplinary care team, providing information about the individual's overall physical condition, abilities, and behavioral characteristics.
  • Ensure aseptic integrity of feeding, catheter, and respiratory tubes or devices while assisting individuals with personal hygiene.
  • Monitor and record temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and nutritional intake or output; alert professional staff to significant physical or behavioral changes or irregularities.
  • Provide oral or written descriptions of an individual's physical and behavioral changes.
  • Observe client, patient, or resident activities, record or report unusual or hazardous behavior, and conduct periodic rounds to ensure safety and well‑being.
  • Escort or be responsible for individuals traveling to social or recreational activities or medical appointments on or off campus.
  • Apply appropriate interventions to prevent or de‑escalate inappropriate behaviors.
Job Requirements
  • Possession of a Delaware certification as a Nursing Assistant.
Additional Posting Information

This is a casual or seasonal position, non‑pension eligible, without healthcare or other benefits. The posting may close on or before 12/22/2026 upon filling the vacant position(s).

Conditions of Hire

All new hires must attend Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held in designated locations in Kent or New Castle County. Pre‑employment drug testing and a satisfactory criminal background check are required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and participate in the Federal E‑Verify system.
