Job summary

Moog's Santa Barbara Operations provides subsystems and components for mission-critical systems. We are looking for a Buyer for an onsite position at our Santa Barbara/Goleta location.

The Buyer identifies sources of supply to meet Moog’s requirements for best value, on-time delivery, and high quality, and executes the purchasing processes in compliance with documented systems. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years in a mechanical/aerospace procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business related area or equivalent experience.
• Two years experience working in a mechanical/aerospace procurement environment.
• Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information

Responsibilities

• Processes requisitions, which include sourcing, cost and price analysis, and purchase order generation.
• Develop and negotiate long-term purchasing agreements dealing with moderately complex commodities.
• Monitor procurement activity dealing with moderately complex commodities.
• Negotiate and place purchase orders dealing with moderately complex commodities.
• Expedite open purchase orders to ensure on time deliveries.
• Resolve packing slip problems by coordinating between receiving and suppliers.
• Resolve invoice problems by coordinating between accounts payable and suppliers.
• Develop abstract of bid from information obtained from request for quote.
• Maintain and update procurement data through current production management system.
• Review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Interface with material planning to resolve any requisition problems.
• Evaluate supplier performance.
• Evaluate and establish economical order quantity.
• Conduct cost/price analysis in support of supplier selection process.
• Review purchase order acknowledgements for accuracy and compliance to terms and conditions of purchase order.
• Assist material estimating in request for quote development, supplier selection and cost/price analysis of information contained in the request for quotation.

Overview:

Moog’s Santa Barbara Operations provides sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development, Moog provides expert solutions in:

• Stabilized Turret Drive Systems Integrated WeaponSystems (full turret from mechanical design to fire control electronics and software)

• Ammunition Handling

• Data Control and Distribution

• Power Management and Distribution

We are looking for a Buyer for an onsite position at our Santa Barbara/Goleta location.

The Buyer is primarily responsible for the identification of the source of supply that will meet Moog’s requirements for best value, on time delivery, and high quality, followed by execution of purchasing processes. The processes used to accomplish this task must be compliant with the documented systems and procedures. The Buyer will develop a level of expertise about their commodity and the market. They must be able to work in this teaming environment, handle the project assignments, and manage their normal workload. The Buyer will be expected to complete the procurement process in a timely fashion. This requires knowledge of the supply base, current pricing, and market conditions. The Buyer should expect to have a number of these activities happening simultaneously. This workload will require effective time management. Occasional travel to suppliersand customers may be required.

Here’s what you’ll be working on day to day:

It would be great if you also had:

• Certification in Purchasing, Inventory Control, and/or Supply Chain Management
• Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) purchasing experience
• Production/manufacturing experience
• Production planning familiarity
• Lean six sigma methodology certification/training/experience

Salary Range Transparency:

Santa Barbara, CA $85,000.00–$105,000.00 Annually
