Reporting to the Materials Manager, we seek a dynamic individual for the role of Buyer / Planner at our Elk Grove, Illinois facility. This role involves planning and purchasing raw materials to support production, managing suppliers, and ensuring on-time delivery at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Typical daily responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and scheduling material purchase orders based on MRP output.
• Implementing materials strategies like consignment, kanban, just-in-time, and postponement to reduce inventory and increase delivery efficiency.
• Updating or developing standard operating procedures to improve processes.
• Collaborating with manufacturing, customer service, quality, procurement, and suppliers to resolve supply issues.
• Managing material requirements changes due to ECNs, EOL, or EOS, including data updates in Oracle.
• Supporting BOM creation and updates in Oracle.

Essential requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or 2-3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing planning and buying.
• Understanding of material planning, control, and lean principles.
• Knowledge of pull systems/kanban and basic MRP, BOMs, ECO processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in an international environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel, including formulas like SUM and VLOOKUP.
